The NetNewsTicker is a small programm which displays RSS-Feeds of the users choice in a horizontal scrolling text. This program is heavily inspired by the program KNewsticker for computers running the Linux operating system. At my workoffice i use Linux for doing anything and i always enjoyed KNewsticker because it provides me with news without covering large parts of the desktop. So i can work and if i sneak some interesting headline in the scrolling area i simply click it to open the whole news in a webbrowser. One day i began to look for a similar program on Microsoft Windows operating systems but i did not find anything that satisfied my requirements. So i thought it was a good idea to program that and share it with others. Maybe there's someone who's looking for exactly what i was looking. Since i was quiet new to c# as programming language and the .NET framework i also thought this is a nice way to become more knowledge about programming c# with the .NET framework. The name NetNewsTicker is following the fact, that the .NET framework is used.
I intend to put the whole program under a open source license. But i used some source code i found on the web to avoid reinventing the wheel. So in the near future i have to check the authors of those source code if they agree putting their work under a open license. You always get this program for free, because in my free time i do not code to get money. I do code to have fun and earn knowledge. But anyway if you think this program is worth a little donation, think about adding an entry to my guestbook to let me know somebody finds this program useful. Also if you already know an excellent RSS feed, don't hesitate to add it to the available feeds of the NetNewsTicker by hitting 'Suggest a feed' on this website. I know this program is not as user friendly as it could be. So if you find something annoying or you know a better way to do something in the user interface to make it as easy and intuitive you're welcome to drop me a line and maybe we even can fix this together.
